Air Quality Engineer/ Scientist
GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking an Air Quality Engineer / Scientist to support our Air Quality and Environmental Compliance Practice in our Livonia, MI office. The successful candidate must be self-motivated with a professional attitude and a solid educational background.
As an Air Quality Engineer / Scientist, you will work on a fast-paced team of Scientists, Engineers, Project Managers, and Principals. Responsibilities:
- Prepare emissions calculations for a variety of industrial, energy, and institutional emissions sources
- Conduct ambient air quality impact analyses using USEPA’s AERMOD air dispersion modeling system
- Prepare applications for air quality permits
- Conduct air permit applicability reviews
- Prepare emissions inventories and compliance certifications
- Create Excel-based tools for demonstrating compliance with emissions-related regulatory requirements
- Track regulatory changes related to air permitting
- Perform field monitoring for air contaminants and noise
- Oversee stack testing conducted by third parties
- Conduct on-site inspections of industrial facilities to evaluate compliance with air permitting and other air quality-related requirements
- Assessment and assistance in selection of air pollution control technologies
- GZA emphasizes a One Company environment, and as a member of our team, you may be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of your primary responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or related engineering or scientific discipline (master’s degree a plus)
- Engineer-In-Training Certification (if applicable)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities
- Ability to apply science and engineering concepts, practices, and technologies to assist in resolving environmental challenges
- Ability to follow directions, and work independently or in a team setting
- Effective communication skills, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office suite
